Gibran Mahmud, tenor and student of Elizabeth Hynes, will be entering his second year of pursuing a Master of Music degree in Vocal Arts this fall from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Gibran graduated with his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Miami University. Gibran’s most recent credits include singing in the professional opera choruses of Dayton Opera and Cincinnati Opera, and performing a variety of opera and musical theatre roles ranging from Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos and Marius in Les Misérables. Gibran has sung with the summer programs of SongFest as a singer in the Professional Program and for the The VOICExperience Foundation. He has placed in competitions and received awards from the Classical Singer Competition and Buckeye NATS. Gibran is very excited to be making his company debut at Opera A La Carte as George Powers in Hail Poetry!
